Minutes – committee meeting November 25 2014

NEWCASTLE TENNIS CLUB COMMITTEE MEETING, NO 9. 25/11/14

IN ATTENDANCE;           J Drayne, J Moore, A George, P Corrigan,  P Canavan,  D Gorman, T O Reilly, J Flannagan, S Doherty.                                                     APOLOGIES. J Wilson.

Minutes of previous meeting proposed by P Corrigan and seconded by J Moore.

Matters arising from previous meeting;

Terry has spoken to Down Signs and sign will be erected over gate tomorrow (26/11/14)Terry will also ask Down Signs to erect sign at side of pavilion.

Dates for matches and court utilization was discussed; 2 courts reqd for Downpatrick on 3/12/14, 7/1/15,  28/1/15.

P Corrigan reports there has been no progress on contacting DDC still awaiting a response to request for meeting.

Danielle suggests that council should also be contacted re lighting around pavilion as very dark in evenings.

The proposed purchase of defibrillator was discussed and agreed to postpone decision on this until first aid classes were completed by some members and a better informed decision could then be made.

1. Terry read over Trustee Agreement.

2. Constitution, Jim read over J Wilsons comments on proposed changes and committee adjusted / amended as seen fit.

3. After  discussion it was agreed that on family membership  one vote for each adult present only.

4. NTC Satisfaction Survey;  Danielle gave update on adjustments made to survey. She will email and circulate to general membership shortly.

5. Danielle also proposed a social night for members probably at end of January.

6. Up date from Ann George on club sports gear, after discussion it was agreed that Ann would look at prices etc for purple coloured tops.

Danielle requests white board for inside pavilion, it was generally agreed that this was a good idea and Danielle will purchase same.

It was highlighted that the First Aid Kit was not fit for purpose and after discussion Sheila agreed to purchase a new one.

Minutes – committee meeting October 29 2014

NEWCASTLE TENNIS CLUB COMMITTEE MEETING, NO 8. 29/10/14

IN ATTENDANCE;           J Drayne, J Moore, A George, P Corrigan, R Corrigan, P Canavan, J Flanagan, J Wilson, D Gorman, T O Reilly, J Flannagan S Doherty.

The minutes of previous meeting were read and accepted as an accurate account,  Proposer – P Corrigan, seconded by J Drayne.

Jim Drayne commenced meeting by addressing some issues from previous meeting;

No 3 of committee meeting No 7;   Paddy Corrigan has telephoned P Mc Cluskey but has not received any reply. J Wilson suggests he try D J Morgan, Paddy will look into this.

No 4 Web Site updating still to be addressed by P Corrigan.

No 5b NTC sign, J Wilson to action ie to contact DDC re erecting the sign which was supplied but too large for purpose at side of pavilion facing the road. Terry O Reilly to chase up new sign for courts from South Down Signs.

No 5d Ann George will speak to Hazel re Friday evening club play.

Agenda for this meeting;

No 1 Danielle discussed the Satisfaction Survey which she would propose to use to survey membership on their opinions of various club issues. Danielle will circulate draft survey to committee members for their feedback.

No2  Coaching. Rachel feels a greater demand for more coaching and perhaps more coaches to deal with the demand of club members. The committee agreed to review the satisfaction survey on coaching issues and also to liase with Hazel re this issue.

No 3 Constitution. J Drayne Chairperson extends his appreciation to Rachel for all her hard work in typing out new constitution. Jim read through each item of amended constitution and any changes shall be inserted by Rachel and re emailed to committee for discussion at next meeting.

AOB.  T, O Reilly raised the question, “Should NTC have a defibrillator” after a short discussion it was agreed to re address this issue at a later stage.

Flood lights, the issue of poor flood lighting was once again raised and it was agreed that this would go unto the list for discussion with DDC.

Ann George informed the committee that the First Aid and Child Protection courses would be starting shortly and would be costing £450. It was agreed by committee that the fee for these courses would be met by NTC.

Ann also brought samples of leisure wear for NTC.  Ann will obtain further samples and pricing for next meeting.

J Moore informed the committee that 2 teams were entered into the Flood Lit league.

Meeting concluded, next committee meeting scheduled for 25/11/14 at 6 45pm.

Minutes: committee meeting – Sept 3 2014

NEWCASTLE TENNIS CLUB COMMITTEE MEETING, NO 7,  03/09/14

IN ATTENDANCE;

J Drayne, J Moore, A George, P Corrigan, R Corrigan, P Canavan, J Flanagan, S Doherty

APOLOGIES;

T O Reilly, J Wilson

  1. The minutes of previous meeting were read and accepted as an accurate account.
  2. Election of assistant secretary to cover for J Mc Lister’s approx 3 month holiday, S Doherty to cover in this role during Jim’s absence.
  3. Jim Drayne stated that J Wilson was not happy with court no 2 repairs. Jim proposes a meeting with council re this and other issues e.g the creep on tennis court times by council usage. P Corrigan has liased with council re development of tennis in council and club and awaits P Mc Closkey’s reply. In response to this a meeting will be requested with the council to summarise clubs achievements and to highlight other issues as above. J Drayne P Corrigan and J Wilson to meet with council.
  4. Web Site Updating; P Corrigan requests liaison with web designers to upgrade various aspects of web site. Paddy will speak to T Mc Ilwrath re this.
  5. A.O.B.
    1. Sheila passes on to committee Tony Mc Ilwrath’s appreciation for sympathy card received by him from committee on the event of his brother in laws death.
    2. The N.T.C. sign is too big. It may be erected at side of pavilion and another sign fit for purpose obtained. The anti-climb paint is in place.
    3. The sub committee responsible for updating the constitution will meet 29/09/14 at 6 45 pm at N.T.C.
    4. R Corrigan stated that she had an email from a parent re junior club play. Information re  this will be posted on web site and notice board at club house.
    5. Ann George to get back to source re club sweaters.
    6. J Moore stated she needed to return entry forms re Autumn/Flood Lit leagues and needs to know of interested members who will play. P Corrigan will put this on Web Site and E. Newsletter to members.
    7. R Corrigan is going to organise a mini tournament for intermediate to advanced players to take place mid to late Oct some Sunday from 10 to 1pm.
