Junior players mark the end of the Club summer leagues

On Sunday many of the Club’s junior players gathered to mark the end of the singles and doubles summer internal leagues. Following an afternoon of tennis, members gathered in the clubhouse for a party and prize-giving.

Winter league ladders commence on Sunday 5th October. Come down at 3pm, pick a playing partner and get on court.

There are two ladders for both the junior and senior sections of the club, doubles and singles. You can sign up for either or both of these. If you wish to be added to the ladders, contact Rachel Corrigan on 07591 762061 or heights5 [at] Everyone who participated in the summer leagues or who has already been in touch with Rachel to express a desire to play, has been automatically added to the leagues and does not need to sign up again.

Open call: play for Newcastle in local tennis leagues

Newcastle Tennis Club invites expressions of interest from senior members who may be interested in representing Newcastle in the Belfast and District Tennis Leagues Autumn and Floodlit competitions.

Whether you have played in league competitions before, or would just like to step up to a new challenge, let us know if you are interested in playing in either of these competitions.

Match Secretary Joan Moore will select teams for the forthcoming season. Each team will require a captain, please state if you would like to take on this role. Joan needs to have received your expression of interest by end of Sunday 14 September, so don’t delay – give it a go!

Floodlit League 2014

Teams consist of two men and two ladies. Each player plays a doubles and a mixed doubles.

Each tie takes the form of a professional set of first to reach ten games.

Fixtures are scheduled for weekday evenings across the district during November to February starting at 6.30pm.

Autumn League 2014

Format: four men or four ladies per team playing doubles and reverse doubles.

Matches are played on Saturday mornings at 9:30am at venues across the district.
