Newcastle juniors at Ulster Indoor Open

Gabriel Corrigan collects the Under-16 boys novices runners-up trophy at the Ulster Junior Indoor Championships

The club’s juniors have been representing Newcastle tennis at the Apex clinic Ulster Junior Indoor Championships at the David Lloyd centre in Dundonald. Jack Cunningham, Michael Flanigan, Ciaran Flanigan and Gabriel Corrigan all participated in various singles and doubles categories. The four Newcastle boys all did well, up against tough competition, with players coming from across Ulster and beyond to bid for the provincial titles.

Ciaran Flanigan did particularly well in the Under-12 boys novices, battling through to the semi-final stages. Ultimately, it was Corrigan who brought home a trophy to Newcastle after makng it through to the final of the Under-16 boys novices. The Shimna College 13 year-old carried home the runners-up trophy after a 1-6, 4-6 two sets tussle against John Ewing.
